Biography

Brummie journalist originally known for fronting the weekday economics programme Working Lunch, before branching out into other areas, notably sports presenting on Match of The Day 2, and fronting BBC One's lousily-titled current affairs magazine The ONE Show, originally alongside Nadia Sawalha, briefly with Myleene Klass, and most successfully with Christine Bleakley.

In April 2010 he defected to ITV, to present amongst other things the channel's World Cup football coverage, and GMTV's successor Daybreak. Christine Bleakley joined him on the early-morning programme, but poor viewing figures meant both were fired after fifteen months. Sorry, we mean "allowed to focus on peak-time commitments".

Trivia

He was apparently the most-watched person on British TV during 2008, with his appearances on The One Show, MOTD2 and coverage of the Olympics putting him a long way ahead of second-placed Phillip Schofield.

He is of Croatian parentage and proudly sports the white and red checks during World Cup season.

He is famed for being a big fan of West Bromwich Albion. We thought this made him unique among game show hosts, but we have since discovered that not only is Cat Deeley a huge fan, but so was Leslie Crowther. Incredible!

During the first series of the BBC's family history series "Who Do You Think You Are?", Chiles presented the last ten or so minutes, in which he spoke to experts about how people can find out more about their ancestors.
