Antony Hopkins

Let the Peoples Sing

Off the Cuff

Composer, conductor and broadcaster on classical music. First making a name for himself with film soundtracks including The Pickwick Papers, To Cast a Dark Shadow and Billy Budd, he would go on to present Talking About Music on the Third Programme, then Radio 3 and finally Radio 4, from 1954 to 1992.

Away from music, one of his major hobbies was driving fast sports cars, and he once told an interviewer "Iā€™d rather have been Stirling Moss than Igor Stravinsky."
