Synopsis

Each week we are introduced to a group of larger women who think they resemble a given pop star. Over an eight-week period (condensed into just an hour of TV), they must dance and dress like their idol. Most importantly however, they also must under-go celebrity-style diets and fitness routines to see if they can drop a few pounds, in order look like their idols. A group of experts guide the contestants on the road to fitness, to help them achieve their dream of looking just like their favourite pop star.

Each episode opens with the group of 20 or so women dancing in the style of their idol for the judges. Based on this, the judges whittle the group down to six or seven. This group must then explain why they are most like their idol. This usually results in all manner of tenuous celebrity links being wheeled out in an effort to impress. Also, in a move clearly designed to ramp up the pressure (cough..cough), the women must do this in front of a life-size cardboard cut-out of their favourite pop star. (We kid you not). Following this, the field is cut again to just three, who the judges feel can, in the words of the programme, 'be slimmed down and styled up'. Over the remainder of the programme, we follow these three women are they are put through their paces by nutritionists, personal trainers, and choreographers to mould them into their idol. Part-way through the process, they are also afforded the chance to strut their stuff on the streets of Britain, in order to ascertain whether or not the Great British Public think they currently look like the who they supposed to. The answer more often than not being no.

After several more weeks intensive weight loss, we arrive at the final, where the women are styled and dressed like their idol. After a few final words from the judges, the woman who most successfully pulls off the look of their idol is declared the winner, and receives a contract with look-a-like agency Excess All Areas. Finally, before the episode concludes, we get to see the winner at their first official engagement as a dopperganger for one of pop music's biggest stars.

Trivia

Each week's episode focused on a different pop star, starting with Beyoncé, and continuing with Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Cheryl Cole, Rihanna, and Katy Perry.

Judge Paul L. Martin would also be one The 100 on All Together Now, as Paulus.
