Despite originally training as an actor (at RADA, no less), Brian Matthew is better known as a long-serving DJ on BBC radio, initially working on the Light Programme where - in the pre-pirate radio days - his ''Saturday Club'' was one of the few outlets for pop music on British radio and played host to all the big names of the day. He would go on to present for Radio 1 and in 1990 took over Radio 2's ''Sounds of the Sixties'' show from [[Keith Fordyce]]. He can still be heard doing the show on Saturday mornings.
