Biography

Long-serving Devon-born disc jockey who took the then-typical 1960s DJ career path of pirate radio, then part of the initial Radio 1 line-up and over eleven years of Junior Choice. After a spell in commercial radio, he spent much of the 90s doing afternoons on Radio 2.

Nicknamed Stewpot, presumably as he was an excellent maker of casserole. He died on 9 January 2016, aged 74.

Trivia

Ed Stewart were his forenames. In full, his name was Edward Stewart Mainwaring.

He had broadcast from the summit of Mount Snowdon.
