Impact of Covid-19
The Covid-19 pandemic has turned everything upside down, and the world of game shows is no exception, so we now have a dedicated page to keep tabs on the shows affected. Do give us a shout if you know of something we've missed.

Greatest Game Shows

The 100 Most Popular Game Shows
One question you almost certainly haven't been asking yourself is "What are the 100 most popular articles on this site?". Well, tough, because we have and you can see the result of our Greatest Game Shows - it lists stalwarts like The Crystal Maze and Interceptor to surprises such as Kate Thornton's Dishes. Who knew?

Wipeout

While UKGameshows.com is (even if we say so ourselves) the most comprehensive guide to the genre anywhere on - or off - the web, with over 2100 programmes already in our database it is inevitable that even we're stumped sometimes. So we're asking for your help. A number of our "most wanted" shows are now listed here and a team of volunteers is standing by, waiting to add your contributions to our compendium of game show knowledge. Go on, help us out. It's what Mumsy would want.

Countdown
7 December Nick's Final Countdown
Nick Hewer has decided to step down as host of Countdown altogether when his contract expires in 2021. He is the second longest-serving host after Richard Whiteley, having been in the role since the beginning of 2012. No decision has yet been made on who will replace him.

Des O'Connor
15 November Des O'Connor
The death has been announced of Des O'Connor, aged 88. His long career on TV and on stage stretched back to the 1950s; in the game show world, he is perhaps best known for having presented Take Your Pick and Countdown.

Countdown
9 November Countdown Colindrum
Colin Murray will present some editions of Countdown due to Nick Hewer shielding during the second lockdown at the insistence of his family. Murray will present three special episodes at the end of the year, before Hewer will present the first twelve episodes of series 83 and then Murray will take over. He will be one of at least three hosts next year, as an edition airing during Black Takeover Day next year will feature a black presenter.

The Chop
20 October Chop Scotched
Sky History has pulled its woodworking show, The Chop, after one of its contestants was accused of sporting white supremacist facial tattoos. It is unclear whether the remaining episodes will be broadcast. (Update 30 October: They won't be.)

A Question of Sport
13 September A Question of Split
The BBC has announced that Sue Barker, Matt Dawson and Phil Tufnell are all leaving A Question of Sport. Barker has hosted the show since 1997, while Dawson and Tufnell have been team captains since 2004 and 2008 respectively. Their final series together will be broadcast next year, with no word yet on who will replace them.
