It was sponsored by Britvic 55.

This series won a Gold medal at the 1983 New York International Film and Television Festival. It later became ITV's entry at the International Festival of Television Sports in Yugoslavia, where it won 3rd prize.

The show once found itself in a minor crisis when two film cameras used during the 1985 series were stolen from an HTV Wales car in Cardiff, with the film still in the magazine.

An International Survival of the Fittest series came out of it in 1988.
