Saturday night welcomes The Wall Versus Celebrities, and another edition of The Weakest Link (both BBC1). On Sunday, Dancing on Ice begins a new series (VM1 and ITV): let's hope for smoother ice than last year.

An old friend returns, Watercolour Challenge has been picked up by Channel 5 (weekdays), and we think it could prove a gentle hit. S4C finds something new to do with a successful walking show - turn it into a dating format. Am Dro Cariadon (Thu) is just about the only way for people to meet in Wales right now.

Francophone telly. Le grand concours is Saturday night's big deal on TF1, eighteen celebrities play a pub quiz for charity. Over in Belgium, The Voice Belgique has crept up on us, that's running on Tuesdays on La Une.

German-speaking shows include Denn sie wissen nicht, was passiert, the Saturday night RTL show where anything can happen and frequently does. Monday sees Gipfel der Quizgiganten on RTL - big quiz show winners take on a panel of experts in multiple-choice questions. Those who beat the experts go on to the final round, where Winners and Experts play as teams on the buzzers. Less explanation needed for RTL's Friday night double: marbles roll on Murmel Mania, and celebrities in the jungle on Ich bin ein Star - Holt mich hier raus!.

Dutch speakers? If you're not interested in Wie is de Mol? (NPO1 and bvn.tv, Sat), then RTL4's Weet ik veel asks fifty difficult questions of famous people. The occasional Nationale Reistest returns, famous people are asked topical general knowledge questions (NPO3, Mon). Van je familie moet je het hebben starts on SBS6 (Sun) - a main guest is lured to the studio where family members and friends play a quiz together. We'll pop this in the "to be reviewed" pile. And the beloved Nikkie de Jager has a new show: Make-Up Cup seeks a new make-up artist (NPO3, Sat).
