Biography
The journalist and cartoonist first came to prominence in the late 1990s, with reviews of computer games that often wandered off into lavatorial humour. He wrote the TV Go Home website, a listings magazine giving spoof television programmes. Then came a regular column in The Guardian, BBC television shows Screenwipe and Newswipe, zombie horror Dead Set located in the Big Brother house, and general media ubiquity. His trademark style is caustic and nasty, yet delivered with a certain respect for the subject of his ire.
Brooker's career hosting game shows has been an extension of this sarcastic persona: You Have Been Watching was an excuse for Charlie to rant about television, with a few questions asked; So Wrong It's Right an excuse for Charlie to rant about modern life, with points awarded.
He married Konnie Huq in a ceremony in Las Vegas in August 2010.
