Synopsis
Who can survive a week in the rugged hills of Wales? Who can you trust to lead you?
Ar y Dibyn looks for just such a leader, someone who can guide a group through the mountains safely, and giving them an enjoyable time. Tests are led by the seasoned adventurers Lowri Morgan and Dilwyn Sanderson-Jones; it's Lowri who gives the voiceover.
The series tests the candidates' physical and psychological strength in all weathers on the mountains, rivers and lakes of north and west Wales. It also shows off the activities in wild Wales: it's not just hiking and mountain-running. There's caving, abseiling, rock-climbing, and some long zip lines that the teams make themselves.
Ten candidates are whittled down via the traditional "eliminate one person each week" method. The best go on a further expedition under the supervision of Morgan and Sanderson-Jones.
The series winner receives outdoor equipment and an unforgettable adventure trip of their own, and is offered a job at a leading outdoor centre.
