ITV has a brace of new shows for Saturday night: the singeing contest Simon Cowell Annoys (7pm) is followed by Phillip Schofield challenging ordinary people to do ordinary things in The Cube (8.30). Countdown, Deal or No Deal, and Wogan's Perfect Recall return from their summer breaks (C4, from 3.25 Monday), and they're joined by Pointless with Alistair Armstrong (BBC2, 4.30). BBC1 invites us to Wait For It..! (Wednesday 4.05), and the first in a new series of Mastermind graces our screens (BBC2, 8pm Friday). The big one? Shooting Stars is back for a new series (Wednesday 10pm BBC2).
+
Highlight of the week is, of course, the Only Connect final (BBC4, Monday 8.30). The supporting acts include the Total Wipeout Championship of Champions (BBC1, Saturday 6.30). There's a return for Scrapheap Challenge (C4, Sunday 5.25), more Celebrity Millionaire (ITV, Tuesday 8pm), and Paris Hilton finds another Best Friend (ITV2, Thursday 8pm). We'll prefer Swots (Radio Scotland, Friday 6.10).

Contents

A guide to game shows broadcast in the UK and Ireland for the week beginning 29 August 2009

Schedules are subject to change.
