The Great Cookbook Challenge

(Cannot quickly find the prodco. Likely to do a Week on this show in March.)
(After watching the first ep, I'm still intrigued by whether it will work. JOliver down as "co-host" for now because he didn't address the audience, only the competitors or others in the room.)

Synopsis

What does the world need most of all? Peace, harmony, love for all? Jamie Oliver knows exactly what the world needs: A new cookery book!

The Channel 4 chef has his name on over 20 recipe books. To extend the market, he wants to promote another cookbook author. Preferably someone new, someone who doesn't have their own six-part series every autumn on another channel. And because he's the Channel 4 chef, Jamie will televise the process.

The regulars: Georgina Hayden, Jamie Oliver, Louise Moore, Jimi Famurewa

Eighteen unknown cooks appear on the show. Each will cook for Jamie and his judges, and explore whether they have the ability to make a good cookbook. The judges are Louise Moore from publishers Penguin Books, restaurant critic Jimi Famurewa from a London freesheet, and published recipe author Georgie Hayden.

There's marketing muscle behind the show, interviews to all the press and websites, Radio Times chose it for a cover feature (and, let's be honest, slapping Jamie Oliver on the front of your mag never hurts sales).

The show is about a recipe book, which is a document telling people how to cook. Books are not at all televisual, but everyone loves a good cookery programme. We're intrigued by how this programme will play out, and whether it will work.

This programme has not yet aired. A full review will appear here after broadcast.
