The Great Interior Design Challenge

Contents

Host

Tom Dyckhoff

Co-hosts

Sophie Robinson and Daniel Hopwood (judges)

Broadcast

Studio Lambert for BBC Two, 20 January 2014 to present

Synopsis

Three interior designers are given a budget of £1000 and compete to renovate rooms in one house. The winner from each of eight heats progressed to the second round, from where two of four progressed to the final.

Other amateur interior designers appreciated the tips and inspiration from the competitors, and critique of the professional judges. Fans of architecture and/or history liked host Tom Dyckhoff, who would break away from the painting-and-sanding action to explore the area around the home.

Casual viewers might have found the hour-long show to lack excitement - Broadcast magazine compared the programme to the venerable Changing Rooms, and noted that the jeopardy was approximately "Is there a fireplace behind this false wall?" It might have fared better on daytime BBC1 than primetime BBC2.

Champion

Sarah Moore, a homeware designer from East Sussex

Trivia

The show's working title was Your Home In Their Hands.
