Synopsis

An attempt to be an upmarket Quizmania, presumably. One of the annoying things about this series was the pretence that it was coming from The Mint Mansion and not a television studio - even to the point that presenters used to get uptight when anyone made reference to a studio. Still, achieved some status similiar to Quizmania, thanks to the double act of Brian Dowling and Beverley French.

Trivia

On 12 May 2006, the first jackpot of £107,882 was won by Diane Bailey who guessed the correct code of 8648. The show had previously told people the code began with 86, and that the last digit was an even number and regularly went through a list of numbers that had already been guessed.

The second jackpot of £130,721 (probably the biggest prize to be given away by a participation TV show) was won by a caller called Keith on 20th October 2006. The winning code was 7012 and was given via a general knowledge question, asked by former ITN newsreader Nicholas Owen.

The ITV Play channel broadcast Extra Mint for it's first month on-air. In September, a new series called The Mint Extra (Extra Mint with a new name!) began, consisting of marathon broadcasts of up to 14 hours!

Broadcast from the Maidstone Studios. For those of you know who don't know, there's no such thing as The Mint Mansion!
