Erudite farmer (real name, Edward Walker Moult) who became something of a cult figure through his appearances on quiz shows (Half Man Half Biscuit even wrote a song about him, and there is no greater "cult" accolade than that). Also popularised the "Pick Your Own" fruit farm and was for several years the star of advertisements for Everest double glazing.
He took his own life following a period of depression on 3 September 1986.
