Born in New York in 1949, Gambaccini came to the UK to study PPE at University College, Oxford. While completing his degree, he wrote for ''Rolling Stone'' magazine, and got a spot on Radio 1 discussing the latest American music. In the years and decades since, he's had regular series on BBC Radios 1, 2, 3, and 4, and on Classic FM. Gambo, as he's universally known, is an acknowledged expert on music both popular and classical. He's also knowledgeable on the movies, for which he was a correspondent throughout the life of TV-AM.
