Highlights this week:
Highlights this week:
-
Who Dares, Sings! (8pm Saturday, ITV and TV3)
+
Last Choir Standing (BBC1, 7.45pm-ish)
-
:A karaoke show presented by Ben Shephard and Denise Van Outen. Any comparisons with Night Fever are... well, let's see the show first.
+
:A competition for singing groups.
-
Good Bid, Good Buy (2pm weekdays, most ITV regions)
+
How TV Changed Britain (C4, 8pm Saturday)
-
:Daytime property auction series.
+
:The final part of this series looks at the history of the quiz show. From the three-and-a-half episodes we've seen, it's been an unimpressive format, pretending to give a deep sociological examination to its subject, but not actually saying anything we couldn't work out ourselves. The show's thesis is explained by its billing: American-derived formats (Take Your Pick), highbrow shows (Ask the Family), financial frenzy (Millionaire).
-
Daily Cooks Challenge (3pm weekdays, most ITV regions)
+
This Time Tomorrow (BBC1, 8.45pm Saturday. Approximately)
-
:A second series of the challenge for chefs that goes out daily.
+
:More promotion for The Lottery Corp, with Tess Daly leading the gloating over the prizes. But it's got to be OK, it's from Glasgow!
-
Britain's Missing Top Model (9pm Tuesday, BBC3)
+
Scrapheap Challenge (C4, 5.55pm Sunday)
-
:Eight beautiful models, seven tough assignments, one incredible prize, one familiar format.
+
:The winners will be crowned Scrapheap Challenge Champions 2007.
-
Celebrity Masterchef (BBC1, from Wednesday)
+
University Challenge (BBC2, 8pm Monday)
-
:More BBC celebrities go cooking.
+
:Well, that's the second half of the Week sorted for the next 31 editions.
-
Personal Services Required (9pm Wednesday, Channel 4)
+
Sports Mastermind (BBC2, 8pm Tuesday)
-
:Families get to test candidates to become housekeepers and that kind of thing.
+
:Des Lynam asks the questions.
 +

 +
Mock the Week (BBC2, 9pm Thursday)
 +
:The year's only series of the satire.
 +

 +
Superstars (C5, 8pm Friday)
 +
:We think this is more The Superteams than Superstars.
 +

 +
Would I Lie to You? (BBC1, 9pm Friday)
 +
:Another time around for the new Angus Deayton format.

Revision as of 17:16, 10 July 2008

Contents

A guide to game shows broadcast in the UK and Ireland for the seven days beginning 5 July 2008

Schedules are subject to change.

Highlights this week:

Last Choir Standing (BBC1, 7.45pm-ish)

A competition for singing groups.

How TV Changed Britain (C4, 8pm Saturday)

The final part of this series looks at the history of the quiz show.

This Time Tomorrow (BBC1, 8.45pm Saturday. Approximately)

More promotion for The Lottery Corp, with Tess Daly leading the gloating over the prizes. But it's got to be OK, it's from Glasgow!

Scrapheap Challenge (C4, 5.55pm Sunday)

The winners will be crowned Scrapheap Challenge Champions 2007.

University Challenge (BBC2, 8pm Monday)

Well, that's the second half of the Week sorted for the next 31 editions.

Sports Mastermind (BBC2, 8pm Tuesday)

Des Lynam asks the questions.

Mock the Week (BBC2, 9pm Thursday)

The year's only series of the satire.

Superstars (C5, 8pm Friday)

We think this is more The Superteams than Superstars.

Would I Lie to You? (BBC1, 9pm Friday)

Another time around for the new Angus Deayton format.
