Synopsis

A favourite choice of Northern Ireland's viewing habits, School Choir of the Year featured thousands upon thousands of local school children competing in primary, secondary and grammar warbling contests.

So, you can almost imagine the outcry of anguish when this along with other UTV entertainment shows was axed in 2005 owing to a lack of timeslots. That's commitment to the regions for you.

Trivia

2001's competition was cancelled because of the foot and mouth outbreak. It was replaced by a 'celebration' special of the contest's first five years presented by musician John Anderson.
