Biography

Comedian with a talent for surreal improvisation which has made him a natural for shows like Whose Line is it Anyway?, Have I Got News for You and Just a Minute. He is also still a regular stage performer with the improv troupe, the Comedy Store Players, and tours with his own outfit, Paul Merton's Improv Chums.

Trivia

He is really named Paul Martin. He took his stage name from the borough of South London where he grew up, since it was close enough to his real name that he wouldn't need to change his signature.

In 2000, he directed a film called The Suicidal Dog.
