Talk:TV Guide This Week

The approximate rules by which I construct the TV guide, last updated December 2012:

  • Include all programmes that might reasonably be construed as game show related on mainstream channels available in the UK: BBC1 to BBC4, ITV to ITV4, C4, E4, More4, S4C, C5, BBC Radio 1-5, Classic FM, Absolute 1215, Talk Sport. Include regional variations.
  • Include programmes that are clearly game shows on other widely-available channels: all national Freeview entertainment channels (EPG entries from 1 up to and including children's section), plus Living, Sky1, Watch, BBC national digital radio stations. Also check new series on Alibi, Comedy Central, Disney, Disney Jr, FX, Gold, Nick Jr, Star Plus, Universal; these generally won't have game shows. Concentrate on new commissions and repeats in or near primetime; the 55th repeat of Dragons' Den at 7am is of little consequence.
  • As they're available in much of Northern Ireland, include clear game shows on RTE1, RTE2, TV3, 3e, TG4, RTE Radio 1.
  • Include clear game shows on local Freeview channels as they open during 2013.
  • Selectively include programmes from other channels available on cable and satellite. Give preference to new broadcasts of shows qualifying for the A-Z, and shows being repeated after a long gap.
  • Generally, do not include narrative repeats; the only exceptions are for Signed repeats or a programme on a high-profile channel going out in a very different slot (eg The X Factor on ITV Sunday lunchtime). Only list a programme once per channel per day - suggest the closest start to 8pm (children's channels: 8am).
  • For reasons of space, spin-off shows and as-live coverage generally get a note under the main programmes.
  • The general format is:
    • Highlights
    • Saturday
    • Sunday
    • Weekdays
    • Monday
    • and so on to
    • Friday
  • Formatting: use 2nd level headings (three equals signs) for each day.
  • If removing a narrative entirely, please remember to remove the || immediately before it, otherwise there'll be an ugly blank cell.
