Biography

Born in Derby, Edward Walker Moult was an erudite farmer who became something of a cult figure through his appearances on quiz shows - Half Man Half Biscuit even wrote a song about him, and there is no greater "cult" accolade than that. He also popularised the "Pick Your Own" fruit farm and was for several years the star of advertisements for Everest double glazing.

He took his own life on 3 September 1986, aged 60, following a period of depression.
