Definition:
Programmes made by Endemol.

Prior to 2015, Endemol was one of the largest TV production companies in the world. Founded in 1994 by Dutch producers Joop van den Ende and Jon de Mol (hence the name), it was owned by Spanish telecoms giant Telefónica from 2000 to 2007, and thereafter by a consortium led by the Italian company Mediaset, one of whose major shareholders is Jon de Mol.

The UK arm of the business started after Endemol bought the tiny independent Bazal Productions (named after its founder, Peter Bazalgette) in 2000 and rebranded the company as Endemol UK Productions in 2002.

Although the company had a reputation for brash and sometimes trashy TV shows, it also made a large amount of comparatively low-key programming.

Endemol merged with Shine Group on 1 January 2015 to form Endemol Shine Group until Banijay Group purchased the company on 3 July 2020.
