Category:Thames Productions

Definition:
Programmes made by Thames Television.

The product of a merger between Associated-Rediffusion and ABC, Thames took over from the former as the ITV station for London on Mondays to Fridays on 30 July 1968. After losing its franchise to Carlton in the 1991 ITV franchise auction, it ceased broadcasting on 31 December 1992 and became an independent production company.

Thames was acquired by the Pearson conglomerate in mid-1993, and in 2001 became part of FremantleMedia (simply Fremantle since 2018), owned by the Luxembourg-based RTL Group. In 2003, it was merged with fellow subsidiary Talkback to form TalkbackThames; all shows produced under the Thames banner became TalkbackThames productions in 2006. TalkbackThames was demerged on 1 January 2012; since then, the Thames brand has been used for Fremantle's non-comedy entertainment programmes.
