P is for... Paper format - An idea for a programme that has been sufficiently explained such that it would be possible for a rough version of the programme to be played. Although the format is usually described on paper, the term can also describe computer software, web pages, videotapes and other media that could also explain a format idea. A paper format attracts legal protection under copyright laws, whereas an idea does not.
